If I have a look at my jabber vcard, the photo from the global identity is not used. It is not send to other (kopete-)users either.

The path the image is set to in the global identity is:
/home/user/.kde/share/apps/kopete/globalidentitiespictures/Standard-Identität.png.

If I choose the file the Umlaut is displayed correctly in kopete. After clicking OK and re-opening the photo-settings, the Umlaut is displayed as %C3%A4.
