When opening an event a new window appears for editing the event. There is no option to delete the event from within this window. If you use kontact and then go to "overview" there is a list of events of the near future. Then, if you want to delete one of it you could click on the evententry and delete it if there would be that option in the event edit window (just one example where this would be a good feature).
