The spam I get never comes from the same ICQ number. I'd prefer an "allow only messages from people on my contact list" option. Back when I was on Gaim, I asked and they said "The official client doesn't offer that, so we won't because it could confuse people". Hopefully you guys will be more sensible about this. Since almost all spam takes the form of messages containing URLs from random accounts, I think a more sensible solution might be to block all messages containing URLs from people not on one's contact list, unless the user actually has a chat window open with that person. *** This bug has been confirmed by popular vote. *** Assuming it works as advertised, the Privacy plugin will meet my needs here. For people who don't want to use whitelisting, I think all that needs to be done to close this bug is to add regex support to the Privacy plugin's message content blacklist option and to make sure it works in concert with the "users not on my contact list" nick whitelisting as an AND filter rather than an OR filter. ...though in such a case, it'd probably be a good idea to include a URL-matching regex as the default text for that field so users just need to check the checkbox if that's what they want. *** Bug 139653 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained. Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat. |
