Description james 2006-03-21 05:02:59 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

Side mouse buttons should act as back / forward buttons. Firefox does this already, and so does galeon.

See bug 48062, comment 15. I think this would be a good way to implement this for KDE4. It's a problem that's been obvious for *years*, and it would be nice to finally have this solved.

David mentioned https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48062 and I think this report is a duplicate of it.
Comment 5 Kamil Neczaj 2009-05-03 23:26:56 UTC
I would rather use my side mouse buttons as global hotkeys to change song in amarok, right - next, left - prev.

This bug puts konqueror at a severe usability disadvantage - iceweasel/firefox handle the additional mouse keys just fine under linux.
The issue has been raised by multiple users on several occasions but has not been fixed:

Also see https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48062#c15 which adresses the issue from a broader angle.

An old patch adding this to KDE can be found here: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kfm-devel&m=109051719121852&w=2
It appears this was never applied

Maybe it could be added to kde? Dolphin would profig as well...
