Hi.

I think it is an interesting idea to add a new type of notification: an event will occour when a message arrives "but" the chat window is still closed. If you aren't watching at the screen, it's important that a new message is notified, but if you have already open the chat window (i.e. you are chatting), one notification for each new message is too annoying.

Perhaps a duplicate of Bug 86898. At least, the intention of a notification that is triggered only on the arrival of a message that will not be displayed in an existing window.
Feel free to re-open if it is not.
