Version:           3.5.1 (using KDE 3.5.1, Debian Package 4:3.5.1-2 (testing/unstable))

When you are browsing the internet with Konqueror, if you press ctrl and release it, boxes with a letter in them are displayed over each link. If you press the key corresponding to the letter, then konqueror follows the link as if you had clicked on the link with the mouse.

The feature is obviously meant to make it easier to browse without using a mouse.

I don't use this feature and I don't like the boxes, I find them annoying. Actually I thought this was a rendering bug for a long time. I only found out that it was really a feature a few months ago.

Please make it possible to turn off this feature.

One may ask if it would be enough if the feature remained but the boxes are simply not displayed. I think this could lead to some confusion, or should I say even *more* confusion. The best way would IMHO be to make this configurable also, so you had an option to either turn off the boxes, or turn off the feature entirely.

The active-keys activate when I have XINE playing, making it very difficult to do anything, especially filling out forms (like this one) because randomly what I type becomes an "active key" instead of text. I would like a check-box somewhere in the config to be able to turn it off, please.

Note the closed/duplicate status of this bug.

I am uncertain as to which KDE version this bug has been fixed in. And I haven't got any idea whether there is a check box option for this.

But there definitely be a check box for it. If I don't hear anything I will take it that no such option exists, and add a new wishlist item for it.

Just updating. There is a config option for this. It exists as of KDE 3.5.1.

It is not possible to control this config option using a gui setting. For that issue, see bug #124218
