I'm not sure if this counts as a bug or a feature request, but here goes.

I have a shedload of albums (including alot bought from the Warp store) which have two seperate artists in the "artist" tag for certain tracks - for example, the one I'm listneing to  at the moment is "Mr. Scruff feat. Seaming To" from the album Trouser Jazz. I'm sure these are pretty common out there, but I couldn't find any similar bug reports.

Every time the collection is rebuilt, these albums are marked as compilations (presumably because amaroK bases compilation=true on whether the aritist tags are identical for all given tracks in an album). I can manually set the album as a non-compilation, but in this case I then get multiple albums instead - to carry on with the above example, I get four Trouser Jazz albums in the collection browser, differentiated by the artist tag (Mr. Scruff, Mr. Scruff feat. Niko, Mr. Scruff feat. Seaming To and Mr. Scruff feat. Seaming To and Sneaky).

Obviously the ideal situation would be for amaroK to only count the first string when scanning the files, and to stop parsing the artist tag whenever it hits a "feat." or "featuring" string, so that the core artist would stay the same throughout the album.

On the face of it, it doesn't sound incredibly complicated and I'll have a gander at the source later (I'm no coder though).

This has been discussed a number of times and isn't feasible.

Assuming that case is unimportant

Some people use "feat."
Others use "featuring"
Still others use "f."
Or even "ft."
And I use "(feat. XXXX )"

:-)

Then there are cases for "with" or "wit." or "w."

Basically... no end in sight!

Search a bit more - I guarantee this has been discussed before

Closing correctly as Amarok 1.x is unmaintained since quite some time anyway.
