Version:           separately (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages
Compiler:          gcc (GCC) 4.0.2 20050808 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.1-4ubuntu9) 
OS:                Linux

I compiled last svn version 

 ./kopete/kopete/kopete -v
Qt: 3.3.4
KDE: 3.4.3
Kopete: 0.11.1

I succeed to log in.
I view all my contacts.

But when I want to open a chat dialog in order to discuss with a contact, it crashes ...

this is not the backtrace.
Can you get the backtrace that appears in dr.konqui?
it require kpete being compiled with --enable-debug=full so we can have meaningfull backtrace

I cannot reproduce.
Can you try with a newer version of the svn ?
(please use --enable-debug=full  when compiling in order to have line numbers in the backtrace)

Please reopen if you can reproduce with kopete 0.12.3.
