Description Philippe Rigault 2006-02-26 03:07:08 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc-4.1.0 gcc version 4.1.0 20060214 (Red Hat 4.1.0-0.27)
OS: Linux

From X.org press release:
X11R7.0 is the first release of the complete modularized and autotooled source code base for the X Window System.

This means that starting with the 7.0 release (December 21 2005), X.org is no longer being build with imake, and xmkmf/imake is now deprecated. Linux distros like Fedora Core 5 no longer install imake by default, although it still provides an imake RPM for the time being.

Configure should be changed to use solely autotools and get rid of any imake dependency.

Cheers.

This is a KDE 4 task, since KDE 3.5 is already released and uses xmkmf.

This is actually a wish, but I'm leaving it as bug because we're using a tool that upstream has deprecated.
