I have a modified kdmrc file in /usr/share/config/kdm. I've edited it manually, and also kdmtheme has done a bit something to it.

When I compile and re-install kdebase (same version as before) kdmrc gets overwritten. I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen or not, bug it sure bugs me.

I've heard that this happens to backgroundrc in the same dir also, but I can't confirm this myself.
