Description Robert 2006-02-20 10:58:59 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

If you use ctrl+n to open a new tab in konqueror and then quickly start typing an address, the part of the address you have typed in disappears when the list of similar urls comes up below the location bar.
This only happens when you are pretty fast with the keyboard. It still happens often enough to bother me during normal work (on a not too slow machine, 1.3GHz pentium m).
It's quite bothersome because when you type the beginning of a url quickly (e.g. dict.leo.org), maybe after typing the 'i' the location bar is erased, so then your next character ('c') is the first character to appear in the location bar, leading to the "recent urls" popup being pretty useless (all urls that start with 'c' and not with 'd' as 'dict'). If you type a new urls (one that you've never visited) this leads to the same problem.

Reproduce:
1. in konqueror, open a new tab using ctrl+n
2. very quickly start typing a new url (like dict.leo.org)
3. after typing the first 2 or so characters, the list of recently visited urls will come up, and this will often clear the location bar (happens to me too for urls that I've never visited)
4. the next character that appears in the location bar is the 2nd or 3rd character of the url you typed, which is wrong of course

Expected behavior:
The location bar should always contain what I typed (and should not be erased while typing).
