Description krcm 2006-02-10 12:49:46 UTC
Version: 0.11.1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

when both me and a contact use kopete some of the emoticons are not displayed by the receiver, instead there is an enlarged version of that person's avatar. This happens with every emo-theme, also with the default one.
We're using kde3.5.1 now but it happened before as well.
When we send an emo to someone using amsn, the amsn crashes. (maybe this isn't down to kopete but maybe this info might help with solving the prob)

I'm very much a newbie on linux :) (also we use the dutch version)
so I'm not sure about what this is, but I think you mean the setting where you make kopete look like another messenger. If so, then Im not sure that it happens with all of them, it happens with more than 1 anyway and I'll do some more testing today or tomorrow to make sure.

happens with all of them
grtz

can you provide a screenshot? I'm having a hard time visualizing exactly what you mean in your report.

Thanks.

I am not sure if it is really related, but my MSN contacts tell me that my ':-P' smiley shows as my avatar on their side. That was by someone who uses Kopete too. And someone else (presumably using Microsoft MSN Messenger) told me my ':-P' looked wicked (or how you would translate it from Dutch). I'll check back on her. I wasn't aware of the problem back then so I assumed she merely liked the look of Kopete's default smileys.

I just checked against Microsoft Messenger for Mac. And there the Kopete ':-P' shows just fine.

by protocol i mean what meaasging service (MSN/IQC/Jabber/...) i see it is MSN.

It seems to be related to the suctom emoticon export feature in MSN, maybe you should disable it.
Comment 10 Henk Poley 2006-03-08 08:22:58 UTC
Well.. that is a temporary workaround, but doesn't fix the underlying problem (Kopete <-> Kopete MSN icons are broken in a subtle way).

I might take some time to look into it, but I've never looked into the Kopete source before, so I can't promise any success.

this is a strange feature in the bug: now I see the avatar of person A when person B types something like :) or :@
Comment 13 Unknown 2006-06-13 00:31:21 UTC
at the msn protocol
Comment 14 Olivier Goffart 2006-06-26 18:37:11 UTC
