Description Terence Galati 2006-02-03 20:10:15 UTC
Version: v0.8.4 (using KDE 3.4.3, Kubuntu Package 4:3.4.3-0ubuntu2 )
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-9-386

I wrote a cheesy mawk script to calculate speeds from the log file, but it would neat to have it displayed as a separate line after "file downloaded".

When downloading podcasts from different mirrors, it is helpful to see the average download speeds at different times of the day. This also helps with download scheduling.

A future version of kget could then make decisions as to scheduling based on download speeds vs time-of-day. For instance, if a mirror is heavily loaded at midnight, it's download speeds over time will reflect that in the log. kget could then suggest a better time, or use fuzzy scheduling such as "about midnight".

Thanks for listening,
