Description Sal 2006-02-01 10:07:26 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux
OS: Linux

I'm using PCLinuxOS and have just updated to KDE 3.5.1 - KMail 1.9.1. Since the update, using Composer to send a new email, when you click Select on the address line this brings up the Select Recipient box. This box no long shows most of the entries in my address book. The option Resource is now missing from the dropbox-Address book, so the only addresses that appear are the ones stored in the Recent Addresses cache even when dropbox set to All.
This is a very annoying bug, not to be able to select addresses from my very large address book.
I have checked with others and everyone that has updated to KDE 3.5.1 with our distro has the same issue.
Thanks for your attention in this matter.
Sal

Same for me. Compiled by konstruct on Gentoo.

I have this bug too with kubuntu packages, but only in kontact. If I open only kmail I can select recipients from address book.
Comment 3 Sal 2006-02-07 16:58:31 UTC
Double checked and it's missing in both KMail and Kontact here.

Me too. It's missing in both KMail and Kontact.

Same on Suse 10.0 (KDE 3.5.1 update packages), in both KMail and Kontact. Dropbox option "All" shows the same addresses as "Recent Addresses" without distribution lists.

I've got the same problem, too. KMail 1.9.1 on Debian Unstable.

My system: Kubuntu 5.10 KDE 3.5.1
KDE upgraded from Kubuntu repository (this bug was not present in KDE 3.5.0).
Running Kontact or KMail seems to make no difference but I run Kontact.
When creating new email or replying to old email I can only see the recent email addresses in "Select Recipient" dialog even when "Address book" combo box is set to "All" (there are only 4 entries in this combo box: All, Distribution Lists, Recent Addresses, Selected Recipients).
The only way I can get "Select Recipient" dialog box to show all email addresses is to:
-Create new email or click Reply on existing email
-Select "Contacts" in Kontact
-Select "resource" address book in "Address Books" list (this is the only address book available)
-Click "Edit" button
-Click "OK" button on "Resource Configuration" dialog box without changing anything
-Click "Select" button next to "To" address edit box in Composer
-Now all addresses appear in the "Select Recipient" dialog and 4 "resource" entries listed in "Address book" combo box in addition to 4 entries I mentioned earlier.

I hope this helps in resolving the issue.
Comment 9 Dominik 2006-02-16 01:16:41 UTC
well in my environment this does not work but my addressbook is not named "resource" anyway.

That "workaround" works for me, but I have the same packages

I'm on debian testing, using Kontact, Kmail 1.9.1. Composer select button show all the address and filter selection only the first time you open it. You have to close and reopen kontact to see it work again. Address Book module of kontact works normally. I think there are some duplicate of this bug:
