Description Claudius Wettstein 2006-01-31 00:53:26 UTC
Version: 3.5 (using KDE 3.5.0 Level "a" , SUSE 10.0 UNSUPPORTED)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.7-default

Sometimes but regulary Kaddresbook shows suddenly an virginal empty addressbook in spite of a formerly well filled one. If so, the corresponding *.vcf file has smelt to 0 byte. If noticed soon, you have the chance to find a undestroyed automatically generated backup file e.g. kontakte.vcf_6 to be renamed without the _6 suffix. But sometimes Kaddressbook has already backed up the 0-byte-"adressbook" so many times, that all automatic back-ups are empty, too. In that case last hope is a working manual back-up of your home-directory.

IMHO a serious bug, to live with the inherent danger of the whole addressbook get lost without any avoidable or predictible mistake by the user.

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
