I can confirm this with kmail in kde-3.5.0, using Gentoo. If focus is on the list and the message is highlighted, accents are displayed wrong. If you click on the message and the list loses its focus, accents are displayed correct. I don't have boxes however but some other weird characters instead. I can confirm this as well and when I select a mail in kmail a name using accents changed to "unknown" when it's highlighted. I am 99.9% sure that we're talking about invalid email headers, which would make this a duplicate of bug 95157. Please save one of those faulty messages to disk, zip and attach it here. Ok, I enclosed snapshots that might help clear this out a bit. This is all from the same account (imap) as viewed with: 1. http client (http.png) 2. thunderbird (thunderbird.png) 3. Kmail (kmail.png) I guess that's enough to clear possibilities of a duplicate of bug 95157 Well, I have this problem with emails sent from kde bugzilla, so I guess we're not talking about faulty messages since I would expect these emails to be correct. Emails sent to kmail-devel on this bug from Philippe Léveillé show this problem. My mistake, After looking at the default options for character encoding in thuderbird, I realized the right encoding for correct display is WESTERN (ISO-8859-1) which works perfectly too in KMail. Setting it to utf-8 led to this problem. Reopening to close with the proper solution. BTW, the Bugzilla headers are broken too. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 95157 *** |
