my msn account menu
wow, i never seen that. are the entry also duplicated in the account menu of the contactlist window (when you right clic on the account icon) Is it dependent of the language ? try to run kopete with a different local (eg english) > are the entry also duplicated in the account menu of the contactlist > window (when you right clic on the account icon) Yes. > Is it dependent of the language ? > try to run kopete with a different local (eg english) Here is my research on the problem. I've set the preferred languages via kcontrol. 1. zh_CN only -> wrong result, while many items are missing, such as out for lanch. 2. zh_CN, C -> wrong result. 3. zh_TW only -> wrong result 4. zh_TW, C -> correct result. 5. en_US -> correct result. Hi, I was translating the zh_TW po file of kopete, and I encountered the problem too. At that time I did two things: * Keep some of the items untranslated making the translated items not broken, so that users still have access to all statuses. * To see if it was I broke the po file or not, I made another po file (from the pot file) with only the statuses translated. Well, it was also broken. Please refer to bug 115714: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115714 So I think it is independent of languages. And if I set to japanese only in kcontrol, the MSN account's menu will become wrong, too. But the jabber menu left correct :??? Wang, can you provide the locale, the KDE setting, and the list of zh_TW fonts on your system? I wanna reproduce the "wrong" in the 3rd item in #4. (I am using kde-3.5 and kopete 0.11.0) Thanks I didn't change my locale, it is always zh_CN. I just configure kcontrol(klocale) so that it contains zh_TW only as my language. I'm using KDE 3.5 with kopete 0.11.0 also :) But I doubt the problem could be related to font (Uming). Yep, I found several Yahoo status duplicated in zh_TW. I haven't use Yahoo for a long time so I was not aware of this. Thanks for notifying me that, I'll fix it in zh_TW. :) However the original bug, I guess, might be some auto replace mechanisms, e.g. if string "Out to lunch" is not present then use something simliar. But I know little about the source code so I'm not sure what happened there. :) Created attachment 14371 [details]

Uzbek Kopete. Message Offline is not translated.

Uzbek Kopete. Message Offline is translated as Blah-blah.
I have the similar problem with Kopete in KDE-3.5 branch. In my case Kopete translated in Uzbek. Here I will try to explain my screen shots showing ICQ and Jabber status menu. Case 1. The status messages "O&nline", "Online", "&Online", "Offline" and "O&ffline" are translated. Instead of "O&ffline" message O&nline (Он&лайн) is shown. Case 2. The status messages "Offline" is not translated. Everything is as expected. Case 3. The same as in Case 1, but message "Offline" is translated as "Blah-blah". Everything is as expected. Like you see the Case 1 and Case 3 are not consistent. Moreover, it not only the wrong message, but the action is also not correct (look at the icons). So, in Case 1 if one clicks on the second "O&nline" (Он&лайн), it really goes online. From my observations I conclude that the bug is in the code not in the translations. PS. The accelerators () in ICQ status messages make no sense. At least, it is not consistent with the status messages for other protocols. guidance from the translators on how to fix this properly would be appreciated. Is it just a matter of removing the accelerators from the menus and letting the code that assigns accelerators automatically do the trick? I've just tested Kopete 0.12 branch. It seems the problem I had has gone. I tested it with a translation of a stable branch. I'll do some more test to make sure it is fixed. For the sake of consistency, could you please remove the accelerators from ICQ status messages (O&nline, &Away...). > I've just tested Kopete 0.12 branch. It seems the problem I had has gone.
If you say it...
I still don't beleive my eyes when looking the screenshot :-)
I removed kdenetwork-kopete (0.11) and did a clean compile/install of 0.12. The problem is still there. So, reopening... I have no idea where the problem could be, so no idea how to fix it. Created attachment 18531 [details]
kopete-0.12b1-fix-unknown-reason.patch
How do you like this patch? It works under zh_CN locale. But I don't know if it
solves other locales.
What is the status of this bug and the patch I've provided? I'll test the patch Will wants it Status??? Nobody knows status? :-) No reaction? Any reaction? Absolutely no more reaction? Forgotten bug? So, is it resolved or not? Why don't you test KDE 4.0 for us and let us know? I don't believe any of the developers run a translated version of Kopete. (Which would be why this bug has gone unresolved for so long) Mattr great answer dude, let's keep away people who translate our programs so that they don't find bugs in our software. Anyway i have all my kopete menus correctly translated if that problem is still happening for someone please reopen the bug and explain exactly what's the problem and how to get it (screenshots won't hurt) |
