Although this was a new install, the home directory was for an existing user. I created a brand new user, and desktop walking worked as I expected. Obviously there is some issue in the upgrade process. This home dir had previously been used with KDE 3.3 and 3.4. There might be an issue w/upgrading if the key has been customized, but that much less of a problem than if it was broken in a new user. Thus I'm marking this as resolved. Sorry for the noise! I've been getting the exact same issue since moving to KDE 3.5. I've recently installed KDE 3.5.1, and the problem persists. In my case a newly created user also has this problem. (Rather than just an artifact of a pre 3.5 KDE config). So it seems to be a general problem in my case. Consider re-opening this bug? My setup is slightly different: I'm using Gentoo instead of Fedora. (No weird CFLAGS, just '-O2 -march=pentium4') Ok, re-opened. I had gone back to the new user, and found that the new user that had been working was no longer working, an the problem remained after logging out, rm -fR .kde, and logging back in. I started re-training myself to use ctl-tab and opt-tab, both of which work fine. Not easy after years and years of win-tab, but I'm getting there. |
