When Kompare starts, the first dialog has a page "files" where you can enter 2 files to compare. The next page is called "diff", so one can easily think that you can enter a diff file there. One should however enter the diff program there. This is confusing. 

Moreover, when you accidently enter the path of a diff file in the "Diff program" field and click the compare button, Kompare hangs.

on KDE4 a description has been added on the three sections. Anyway the UI could be improved a bit to emphasize.

About the "hang" problem, kompare doesn't hang on KDE 4 if a .diff file is inserted on the "diff program" line.
