which protocols? not all protocols provide enough support for knowing that they've been disconnected. I have this problem with icq msn and jabber. jabber im not sure because i only use it since a few days and have not been watching if it behaves the same way as the other 2 protocols do Maybe the KDE4's Solid connection manager will help for that. Actually, we are just waiting the connection times out. how does your connection work? (DSL through a router, dial-up, etc) For me ICQ and MSN detect it instantly when I get disconnected (every 24 hours) but Jabber and Yahoo take a very very long time until they timeout. Here, ICQ and kdetalk.net take some (>10, IIRC) minutes. jabber.ccc.de detects a disconnect nearly instantly. This is something we can hardly solve. And need to be solved for each protocols. |
