Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages

Connection timeout error when accessing windows 2000 network pc from linux pc in a windows workgroup.
Accessing an XP Pro machine running the XP firewall on the same network from the same linux machine running SLAX Linux works very quickly and performs correctly.
This is a solid problem that I can repeat every time. Not sure if it is related to the windows 2000 machine setup or the Zone Alarms firewall on that machine.
I have queried the firewall logs and I can see no evidence of the windows 2000 machine blocking the linux machine.
The error message that comes up is very quick indeed and I wondered if timeouts on the linux box were not set correctly??
The actual error message is:
Internal Error
Please send full bug report at .....
Unknown error condition in stat: Connection timed out

Look forward to any help that can be provided as I am new to Linux but an old hand in windows.

Thank you.

Does it work if you try to access it by IP instead of hostname?

KDE 3 is no longer maintained. Feel free to reopen the ticket if the problem is still applicable in the current stable KDE 4 version. Thank you for your report.
