Version:           kmoon  3.5.0-0ubuntu0breezy1 (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages
OS:                Linux

After upgrading from KDE 3.4.3 to 3.5 the kmoon applet in kicker does not show its information, while the mouse is over the applet. This appears about 1-2 hours, after I start the Laptop. At the beginning it is working fine...

Cannot say, if this happens after 1-2 hour's. But - moving the mouse over the applet doesn't show anything for me to any time. An old bug id #7541 was similar to this. The resolution there was to activate the applet. Clicking on the applet only makes a "About"-dialog appearing. Closing this and than moving the mouse over the applet doesn't function :-(

Addionally - in KDE 3.5.1 this did not change. Also "kicker" is crashing from time to time after "CastPodder" with some "Python lib" crashes... Manual restarting "kicker" helps.

After upgrading to KDE 3.5.2 yesterday there is no change. Mouse over the applet loses information after 1-2 hours. The behavior is the same as with the "kweather" applet...No probs with other applets discovered so far...

I can't believe this bug, that I think started with 3.5.0 still isn't fixed in 3.5.5 !!

It affects more than kmoon, kweather is affected as well and possibly any other applet not in the systray that displays tooltips.

I can reproduce it on all of my Gentoo and Kubuntu systems running a KDE 3.5.x desktop.

One way to trigger the bug on demand:
go into kmenu, mouse down to expose a 2nd level menu, then move the mouse off the menu and click on the empty desktop; the previously working tooltips will quit working.

You can either restart kde or cycle the mouseover or tooltips effects in the configure panel to get the tooltips back...but for how long?

I can confirm, that the bug is still in KDE 3.5.5 in Kubuntu and Debian. Here it affects kmoon and kweather.

yeah still true in 3.5.7

a mean to trigger it is to go and  navigate in kde menus
then tooltips refuse to show in kmoon and kweather as well.

This bug has been solved in KDE 4.3.4.

Does it still occur in kde 3.5 ?

KMoon is unmaintained. (I asked its author)
