Print preview clearly shows a horizontal white line which also shows up on paper
print preview digikam 0.9.4

Description Bernie 2005-12-11 22:50:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Photos printed with Gwenview in high resolution on for photo paper sometimes have thin horizontal white line through the photo, both in kdeprinter preview as on paper. Difficult to determine when this happens, but fiddling with the scaling options in the printing dialog of Gwenview causes the lines to shift, so my best guess is that the scaling algorithm is somehow flawed here.

Can you confirm an identical behavior for image printing applications other than gwenview when using kprinter? I am almost convinced that this has nothing to do with kdeprint (which largely only takes PS data from the application and sends it to the printing system).
Comment 4 Michael Goffioul 2005-12-12 09:05:14 UTC
Indeed, I doubt the problem lies in kdeprint. Try to print to a PS file and view it. If the problem exists, then there's 99,99% probability that the problem is in the image viewer program.

In Gwenview 1.3.1 I choose "print to file (PDF) and on the tab "Image Settings" I choose "scale to" etc and again white lines show up. From these posts I understand that the tab "Image Setting" and its settings belong to Gwenview functionality and not KDEprinter, right ? If so, KDEprinter isn the culprit but very likely it is Gwenview. How can I change the product of this bug to Gwenview ?

Bernie, I cannot reproduce it here (gwenview 1.4.1) can you check if it's still valid? and if, can you provide the "offending" image? With your attachment it seems ok now.
Thanks,
   Angelo

I can't reproduce it and I've got no answers yet. If you think it's still present please reopen it.

KDE 3.5.10 on opensuse 10.3 x64 , this bug still shows up! No problems when using the GIMP for printing, however each programme using the KDE printing dialogue this shows up (a least for photos). Iĺl attach screenshot of digikam 0.9.4 print preview. These lines exactly show up in the actual print.
Now there seems to be another bug report on the same issue: Bug 155415. Please let me know if I can be of any help...

Regards Bernie

Can you confirm if this is still an issue in KDE 4.7.4 and Gwenview 2.7.4?

Setting status correctly.

Closing for lack of feedback. Please feel free to reopen this report if you can reproduce this with Gwenview 3.10 or later and provide the requested feedback.
