I'm investigating why it happens. Fix pending gspca1's Michel Xhaard's goodwill, as described in the kopete-devel post (link below) http://lists.kde.org/?l=kopete-devel&m=119429215312848&w=2 This is still happening in Kopete from kdenetwork 20080705+svn828272 . Used the gspca1 from Ubuntu 8.04.1. And it's not really a crash , it's a freeze . Please see comment #2. Until it's fixed in the driver, it sadly can't be fixed in Kopere. *** Bug 168935 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** what about this bug ? the driver have been fixed ? Hi Nicolas, today I tested the last version of kopete (from source) and another app that manage Webcam too called cheesse (or something like that :P) ... here my conclutions: - It can't be 2 apps using the same Webcam. in my case cheesse and kopete-settings. - The bug it still there, but it doesn't a kopete issue but seems to be a issue with gspca (Webcam driver/module) I'm trying of load the mxhaard.free.fr page but it seems broken, also I downloaded the gspa sources and a fast view indicates that the code has not been touched since 2005 :(. I hope that someone maintain the source, unfortunately I don't have the skills to such task neither the time :( to start to learn it. Bests, Percy The gspca1 drivers from mxhaard.free.fr still have that flaw that makes impossible to fix the issue. Mr. Xhaard seems to be unwilling and/or unable to fix his own code. I suggest resolving this as UPSTREAM, since it's apparently not something Kopete can do anything about. Device removal has been fixed with KDE SC 4.4 (Kopete 1.0). I also can't reproduce it with kernel-drivers gspca-sn9c20x and gspca-sonixj (kernel 2.6.32.8). |
