When using home:/ kio_slave, i can't open file as it give home:/file_name instead of ~/file_name to applications...

KDE applications should work. Non-KDE applications need to have their .desktop files updated.

Yep. Kubuntu 5.10, up to date: Opening and *.odt document with OpenOffice doesn't open it (no debugging output...).
