Yes, even with the SVN build it crashes when I move irc.kde.org from no. 2 to 3 and 4.

I don't see why it should be crashing there.  If you attach your .kde/share/apps/kopete/ircnetworks.xml I'll run it through kopete with some extra output turned on to get some idea of what's happening.
