Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          gcc-3.3.6 
OS:                Linux

steps to reproduce
1. select two different files in the same directory and compare them
2. close kompare
3. reopen kompare (filenames are saved)
4. select another file as source

expecting result: 
destination file should stay unchanged

actual result:
filename clears (dir name stays)

is it a feature? if it is would it be reasonable to make it optional?

The expected case is the actual case in Kompare 4.1.2.
