The change of text between KMail 1.8 to 1.8.92 for the "new mail in this folder" is really confusing.

The previous message - "Notify on new mail in this folder" was very clear and no further explanation was necessary. The current message OTOH quite surprised me, and even as a technical person I had to use the help to understand what it meant. 
Further more, at first glance I assumed that it means that I can change whether IMAP filters will be activated when new mail is found in this folder, but the help clarified the fact that this is not different then the previous text - in two large paragraphs it explained - to great lengths - what everyone would have expected from an option called "Notify on new mail in this folder", and nothing more.

So I fail to understand what the change of text have achieved except making the dialog less accessible then it already was.

The setting is not only for displaying the number of unread messages but also for specifying if the folder should be selected when reading mail using "single key" read or navigation using "next/prev unread message".

Since it has not been changed it probably wont until that setting affects something else.

Well, I can't seem to find the KMail documentation on my system (the file apparently is missing in Karmic), so I can't check if what you say is correct or not. I still think the description is problematic and the documentation is lacking, but as for the last 4 years nobody cared to comment on this issues then its obviously not a priority.

Oh well :-)
