Description Artem S. Tashkinov 2005-10-25 09:04:45 UTC
Version:           2.6 (using KDE 3.4.92 (beta2, >= 20051010), compiled sources)
Compiler: GCC 4.0.2 compilation flags used: -O2 -march=pentium2
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-k8

I don't like the default sound "Master Channel" (Master) which is chosen by KMix. That's why I choose PCM.

But upon rebooting/relogon'ing KMix always shows Bass (!) as "Master Channel" not PCM!

Here's an extract from my kmixrc (When I choose PCM and exit Kmix):

MasterMixerDevice=5

At the same time kmixctrlrc has

[MixerSBLive! Value [[CT4830]].Dev5]
is_muted=0
is_recsrc=0
name=Bass
volumeL=20
volumeR=20

[MixerSBLive! Value [[CT4830]].Dev9]
is_muted=0
is_recsrc=0
name=PCM
volumeL=0
volumeR=0

So actually Kmix has to save MasterMixDevice=9, not 5.

If I manually edit kmixrc and set MasterMixerDevice=9 then Kmix chooses the Master Channel at start up.

My soundcard is SB Live.

Hello, I ams starting to suspect, what is going on. For this, I need to know, which soundcards/drivers are problematic. Could you please send this information:
1) The output of
        cat /proc/asound/cards
2) The Soundcard names (product names, from the manufacturer)

Thanks for your support

I load sound drivers in this order so that my default sound card for all applications is Sound Blaster Live.
