I would like to make a change to how most settings dialogwindows in kde and kde-apps work. If you take a look at perhaps a Gnome or OsX settings dialog there is no apply or Ok button, only Close. This is much more intuitive and also faster than in most kde apps. However, instead of just a close button, a cancel button would be useful.

Take for example an option dialog for changing a font size. 

In the first case you change to a new font size, but don't like it, and change it back.

In kde you change the font size, press apply and look at the results and then decides to change it back. The you have to select the old font size and reapply it.

In my proposed way, you select a new font size, it auto-applies just as you select it and you see the result. You decide not to keep it, so you just do cancel. Thats only one click instead of four. you also loose one button. Cancel/Close instead of Cancel/Apply/Ok. New users, can become confused about what excactly apply and ok does, "Do I have to click apply before clicking OK?" and such.

This can be implemented by adding an setting.onChange(apply) <-- pseudocode on all optionboxes, be a radio button, textfield, combobox and so on.

Does anyone have any feedback on my wish I'm open to suggestions to how it can by done, and what problems there may be. If someone wants, gnome apps like gaim uses this approach, and most of gnome's other tools too.
