Description Jason Keirstead 2005-08-14 17:45:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I have a laptop that is on the cooperate network about 70% of the time. The other 30% I am working at home / playing at home, and do not have access to the network (well sometimes I am VPNed in, but that is aside from the wish).

Since one of my email accounts in KMail needs access to the corperate network to be checked, when I am not connected, I only have on of two options to keep KMail open:

 - Respond every two minutes to a never ending dialog box that says it cannot connect
 - Manually disable the auto check for that account, and hope to god that I remember to re-enable it when I go to work next.

Neither of these is desirable. It would be very nice if you could say "only try to auto-check this account X times, then disable auto check for this session".

Even better, and perhaps even easier to do, would be to have the failure dialog for an auto check be a question:

"KMail cannot connect to <servername>. Do you want to continue attempting to check mail on this server event <N> minutes? <Yes> <No>

A third option is to simply not report failure for non-user-generated events.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
