Sentry Crash Report:

Description Mike Wells 2005-08-11 15:15:02 UTC
Version: 0.7 (using KDE 3.4.0 Level "b" , SUSE 9.3)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 20050117 (prerelease) (SUSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.4-20a-default

Numerous problems when using kmenuedit v0.7:
1. Copy to clipboard function does not work at all (user/root).
2. Moving an entry by repositioning (dragging up/down) deletes entry.
3. After deletion of an item the user merge menu causes complete disaster with the original menu order.
4. Sort order for menu seems to be amiss randomly, given the action taken in the editor.
5. Have taken to doing menu edits manually because nothing done in the editor produces consistent/correct results.

I noticed there is a much later version (3.0 I believe) when I submitted this. If this would resolve please inform as how to obtain.

Thank you,

Mike

Hello Waldo,

I apologize for Problem #1. Thought the copy function was to clipboard and was wrong. In fact the copy function does work as I was able to paste successfully. I know (per the editor handbook) that you are supposed to move an item by copy/paste rather than "dragging" (Problem #2) but I tried dragging anyway because the copy function did not appear to be working. Scratch #2. I will experiment further with the menu order "scramble" to see if I can make some kind of sense out of it.

I am new to Linux/SuSE/KDE so please forgive my ignorance.

Mike

hello mike, just an advice, it is better to fill one report per problem and not reporting several problems in only one report. This is confusing for the discussion. Thanks for supporting kde.

ad.4) still valid in KDE4
Comment 4 Anne-Marie Mahfouf 2010-03-20 15:28:01 UTC
Maciej can you please explain what you exactly mean (how do you sort) and what KDE version. Thanks in advance!
Comment 5 Maciej Pilichowski 2010-03-20 19:58:59 UTC
Anne, I cannot reproduce it now because I don't test KDE4 anymore. I only use few selected apps from KDE4.

OK closing as worksforme, there are anyway other bug reports opened for issues I can understand and reproduce in KDE 4.4.1
