Description Björn Gohla 2005-08-10 14:32:50 UTC
Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-suspend2-r2

reading mailing list posts it occurred to me that it would be useful, if attachements to mail messages could also be send in an "out slot" manner, in the following way:

instead of actually including the attachement in the message, the respective file is pushed to a preset directory, that is accessible via the web, and the resulting url would be included in the message. probably the filename needs to be hashed and the web directory should not be indexable. obviously this method should not be used for confidential material, even when the attachement is encrypted.

this would in effect automate the practice common on many mailing list, where sending large amounts of data to the list is dicouraged.

It still looks a bit dangerous that files are dumped somewhere on the web, even if you say that it should not be indexed. But of course there's no guarantee.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
