Version:           0.1 (using KDE 3.4.1, Debian Package 4:3.4.1-1 (3.1))
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.6 (Debian 1:3.3.6-5)

it would be nice, if i don't need to authenticate as admin only to stop my own printjobs.
description: i print, after that i wish to remove the job and click the ttrash bin -- a dialog pops up and asks for authentification. logically i think every job started by me should be removeable by me without need to be admin.

I guess you use CUPS. The problem you encountered depends on the access configurations of the cups server. Look in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf in your print server. The /jobs location might have access limited to admins. Is this the case?

yes, sorry, i forgot to mention.

nope. it's set
AuthType Base
AuthClass User

/var/spool/cusp is set 710 for owner root, group lpadmin and all jobs are  
600 and belong to root.

Does it work if you authenticate as yourself in the dialog, instead of admin? The authentication (password) is not saved, so every new process (like the job viewer) needs at least to give the correct password once.

seems so, at least i could stop and restart a print job with my  
username/password.

Currently, there's no other mean. Once kdeprint uses some other system-wide password manager (like kwallet), I guess this problem will disappear.

KDEPrint in KDE3 is unmaintained and will have no more new features
implemented.  This request will never be implemented in KDEPrint as a result.  

In KDE4 kjobviewer has been replaced by printer-applet which uses
system-config-printer as a backend.
