It would be very nice if digikam could identify pictures by md5-sums like kimdaba does. If you tag an image, close digikam, then move it on your harddisk, its lost now.
In 0.8 there is a dialog, that the image is not where it used to be, but you cant do much about it, but moving it back. At this point digikam should search images in the root-directory, that are not in the database for checksums, and if they match the checksum of the "missing" picture, the path should be updated.

If its not clear what i mean, look at kimdaba, its done very nice there, and maybe you could even use parts of the code.

Digikam is very arkward to move folders or pictures around, i would prefer doing that in konqueror..

Amarok has a similar feature for music files called Amarok File Tracking.

I don't understand; why was the *older* bug marked as a duplicate of the *newer* bug?

Hi Adam,

Both files will use an unique solution to be solved : an MD5 sum store in 
database. This will be do later 0.9.0-final planed at Christmast...

I'm trying to file in the same way all similiar ideas. Trying to solve 
duplicate entries in B.K.O is a nightmare, especially when we have over 300 
files...

If some idea are missing in #125736, please feel free to comment in this 
thread. Thanks in advance
