I am currently using multiple Kolab servers each with multiple TODO items, some of which have multiple sub-todo items under them.

Right now there is no indication when in the todo page as to where they come from, which leads to some problems.  I can assign resource colours, but they have no effect (other than maybe on the calendar, but most todo items don't have a date or time associated with them.)

Firstly, it's quite possible to get sub-todos saved into a different file than their parent, which is messy, and makes things difficult to understand if you turn some resources off.

Secondly, since there is no way to visually distinguish them, and when there are a lot of todo items its' convenient to sort and filter them, but the resource is not a filterable field.  If korganizer could auto-add a category equal to the resource they came from, or make that a field i could filter on, that is much more convenient than turning on and off resources, which is a little awkward.  

Currently, if someone asks on IRC for say, 'what's on the TODO for junior jobs for docs' I currently have to either turn off all the other resources in order to figure that out, or tag each item with a category, which if I have to do it manually, almost defeats the purpose of keeping them in a separate resource.  In either case, if I can see 'JJ == blue' and then pick them out of the list, or if the resource was auto-added as a category (even a non-editable one) or even as a whole other column (that I could hide if unwanted), I could then sort and filter on it to my hearts content.

Finally, since little colour blocks might indeed be ugly, and since we're all pretty good at distinguishing symbols, it might be more aesthetically pleasing to use icons (KMail manages quite nicely with small icons to indicate status after all.)

Sort of related to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48489 although that's about categories, it has some of the same issues and might need to be considered alongside. For instance finding a visual representation that isn't totally fugly, for instance, especially if there are multiple colours to be shown: state + resource + category(ies)
