Version:           1.8 (using KDE 3.4.0, Debian Package 4:3.4.0-0pre4 (3.1))
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-12)

KMail is usually pretty responsive -- excepted when it decides to compact some mailboxes on it's own initiative. Then the KMail UI becomes unresponsive for the duration of the compaction. I have a 1Ghz system, it's not like I would have a very very old system.

If more information is needed I will be glad to provide it.
