As one can do this by oneself (and Outlook douzends of different suffixes for this), I think this bug can be closed. ok, for sure: everyone can do this on his own, but if one person adds them in the kde-sources than no one has to config them furthermore - at least for the most common unnormal versions of Re: (RE: AW: Antwort: WG: [forward], should be not case sensitive). The time-saving for all KDE-users (and the persons involved in an Outlook-Thread) should be greater than the effort to change the standard configuration :-) So you are proposing to add those combinations from every language? maybe this could be included in the language-package? My intention is not to adress every possibility but 90%! And I (living in Germany) have never seen portugese or italian style? So may be Englisch, Spanisch, German, French should solve most "problems". Or: there could be a checkbox [ ] Clean up non-standard Re: Fwd: ...? And that option kills all those misconfigured Re:s? Hmm... making it per-language makes sense. The translators would add the prefixes that are used in that language. Looks like a nice feature for KDE 4. what do you (or others) think about the "kill all bad Re:/Fwd:"-option? I hate those Re: AW: Antwort: Re: [Subject] Subjects :-) *** Bug 89480 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** We don't need such an option. We just need to add some language dependant defaults for the Reply and Forward prefixes. Since we do already have language-dependant defaults for the "Attachment forgotten?" keywords making a similar patch for the prefixes should be easy. So let's mark this wish as JJ. Could this bug please be assigned to kmail2? It's seems to be still valid. (In reply to comment #9) > Could this bug please be assigned to kmail2? It's seems to be still valid. seems it's not. The original report was: > would it be possible to add the Outlook AW: That's possible (settings / composer / Subject), and the entries are case-insensitive then followed an unrelated idea: > what do you (or others) think about the "kill all bad Re:/Fwd:"-option? and on the same dialog, there's a "Replace recognized prefix with "Re" checkbox No! AFAIU this is about having it added automatically if the language is not English. Please read comment 8. Language dependent defaults. KDE 4.8 will have 53 supported locales, do you really want to add several lines for each one ? The wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_email_subject_abbreviations#Abbreviations_in_other_languages) only lists 11 different locales and afaics, it's very minimalist Why not? How is it different from any other localisation? Installing a translation package for language x should add these abbreviations as well for that language. Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding. Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2. |
