Consider the following email text examples:

"load on the server was above 7 (and actually meaning it, 100% disk I/O) and

"situation was worse than that though - the system load was high, staying around
> seven, close to 8 sometimes." 


Suggestions:

If a line begins with > and then an integer (either separated by a space or not), it should not be marked as quoted text unless a line immediately above or below it is also quote-indented text.  i.e.:

"I can talk about number ranges, like
>600 and 
> 4842 on multiple lines in a row and it won't be marked as quoted."

"> this of course,
> 600,
> 42, would be quoted."

If a line begins with > and any nonspace character, it should not be marked as quoted unless a line immediately above or below contains the same indentation style, i.e.:

">this is crappy
>indentation and should be quoted"

"but this, with
>four, is not and should not."

"> and while this line should be quoted in this case,
>this one should not."
