A very common scenario is:

1. I finish using the computer.
2. I log out of kde using the "turn of computer" option, and walk away.
3. Family member sees me standing up, and says "dont turn off the computer, Ill use it if you are finished".

But its too late... kdm's shutdown sequence cant be interrupted.

It would be nice if kdm could show a box indicating that a shutdown is about to start, showing a countdown, and with a button allowing the shutdown to be aborted and show the normal login page.

ok, let's generalize this:
- scheduled shutdowns are already supported by kdm. we'd just make ksmserver use them properly and/or make them more accessible in kdm (shutdown profiles, maybe).
- in the last seconds before the shutdown, a countdown should be shown on all active displays.

KDM is unmaintained and not used in KDE Plasma 5.

SDDM is the login manager used in KDE Plasma 5. If you still have this same issue with SDDM, please file an issue on the SDDM bugtracker (after doing a search for existing issues first!): https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/
