Sentry Crash Report:

Description eli 2005-05-27 07:22:16 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Konqueror becomes very unresponsive on the page http://www.haaretzdaily.com. Every action can take several seconds to respond after the page is loaded. Scrolling up and down is jerky. The mouse cursor takes time to change over links. Right clicking over an object is slow to produce menus
Comment 1 Thiago Macieira 2005-05-27 13:29:23 UTC
I can confirm that.
Comment 2 Maksim Orlovich 2005-07-04 19:54:36 UTC
can't confirm
Comment 3 eli 2005-07-04 20:10:08 UTC
Maksim... What do you mean that you can't confirm? The behavior persists in 3.4.1 and I would very much like to help to get this resolved as I very much dislike opening up a second browser. Are you using a development version of kde / Konqueror? If so, is there a patch that can be applied? Could the speed and amount of memory of the computer have something to do with this. I'm running 800 MHz on 512 MBytes. Could you tell me what components and as such which dependencies might be involved so that I might research the problem further? I also get script problems when I log into my horde server. Anything else you could suggest to help me get this issue resolved?
Comment 4 Colin J Thomson 2005-07-04 23:49:37 UTC
Confirmed here FC4, kde-redhat-3.4.1 RPMs, perhaps it could be a script or something on the page khtml does not like.
Comment 5 Claude Jones 2005-07-04 23:53:01 UTC
Running on FC4 with KDE-Redhat-3.4.1 on a 2.8ghz P4 with 1gb ram - got the same behavior. It doesn't happen till the page fully loads, or is almost fully loaded. Scrolling became very unresponsive and jerky after a few moments.
Comment 6 Rob Hughes 2005-07-06 14:35:04 UTC
Confirmed on 3.4.1, 32 bit Intel build. Doesn't happen if using a gecko-based browser.
Comment 7 Tommi Tervo 2005-10-24 13:52:55 UTC
3.5b2 is sluggish too.
Comment 8 Maksim Orlovich 2006-01-19 19:09:48 UTC
hmm, I still don't see it, and I visit the website pretty frequently, too.
Comment 9 FiNeX 2008-04-06 19:46:08 UTC
Tested on KDE4. The website loads correctly and the navigation is ok.
Comment 10 Juha Tuomala 2008-04-08 18:12:47 UTC
It's normally responsive here too. I'm running 3.5.9-5 on fedora 8, x86_64
Comment 11 eli 2008-04-08 18:50:40 UTC
I'm running 3.5.9 Fedora 8 x86_64 and its really very very unrepsonsive.
Comment 12 Juha Tuomala 2008-04-08 18:56:15 UTC
do you mean the whole browser menus, buttons etc? Not the rendering area itself? Well, didn't see anything unusual there either.
Comment 13 eli 2008-04-08 21:10:59 UTC
I mean the rendered area and the scroll bar. Might flash have something todo with this?
Comment 14 Juha Tuomala 2008-04-09 08:37:48 UTC
I've adobe flash yum repositories enabled an in use, it works, in konqueror.

Actually only thing that nowdays does not work is the links in flash area.
Comment 15 eli 2008-07-19 09:58:43 UTC
Somewhat better in 4.1 RC1 but not its still not snappy.
Comment 16 eli 2008-09-19 07:51:08 UTC
Better in 4.1.1, but still very slow.
Comment 17 eli 2008-09-29 06:58:13 UTC
Actually, still slow, but much better. It might be (at least in part) a driver issue with Nvidia. I will keep you posted as the current series moves from Beta to final.
Comment 18 eli 2008-10-10 07:03:51 UTC
Improvemnt in 4.1.1 still there in 4.1.2 but its still slow.
Comment 19 eli 2008-11-16 08:46:49 UTC
Still slugish in 4.1.3
Comment 20 eli 2008-12-12 08:49:19 UTC

Comment 24 Maksim Orlovich 2009-03-05 21:14:56 UTC
And I /still/ can't reproduce it, and I visit the site reasonably often. Quite surreal, really.
Comment 25 eli 2009-04-03 08:23:57 UTC
Hi Maksim.

Are you using i386 or x86_64 binaries?

Better but still slow in KDE 4.2.2
Comment 26 eli 2009-05-13 19:35:15 UTC
Problem persists in KDE 4.2.3
Comment 27 Rex Dieter 2009-08-14 17:19:31 UTC
Fast-n-snappy for me on kde-4.3.0 (Fedora 11/x86_64)
Comment 28 eli 2009-08-14 19:01:26 UTC
As usual load time very good. Scrolling all the way down the page is still slow.
Comment 29 eli 2009-09-11 19:16:29 UTC
Still a little choppy in 4.3.1, but much much better
Comment 30 Myriam Schweingruber 2012-06-18 14:12:31 UTC
Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams:
This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore.
If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report.
Thank you for your understanding.
