Description Thomas Zander 2005-05-24 10:01:05 UTC
Version: 1.8.50 (using KDE 3.4.89 (CVS >= 20050314), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11.1

I sent an email to a friend with the intention to sent it non-encrypted.
I left the 'encrypted' toolbarbutton unchecked.
On sent I was asked to encrypt anyway due to the profile of this friend which has a 'Always encrypt with This Key".
I did not want to change the preference for this one time; so I remved the 'encryption keys' (using the 'clear' button). And pressed OK.

Next I get a dialog saying 'missing key', which is exactly what I expected. No problem so far.
I press 'Send Unencrypted' and the email is sent.

To my surprise the email has been sent encrypted anyway.

I suggest to change the encryption default to 'Ask whenever' and effectively honor the 'send unencrypted' button.

Same happened to me in KDE 4.2.2 and the mail has been only encrypted with my own key so the receiver could not read it.
