If the flash is not loaded, in the area of the flash put a button that ,if clicked, loads the flash file. I would not connect this to image-blocking, but I think it would be usefull as a seperate option. Firefox has an extension for that. I have it running and I know many others. So I vote for it, but not for connecting it, to disabling of picture (I don't think many people disable picture, only ads, via Adblock) I also wouldn't vote for this as stated, instead it seems that the ability to specifically enable or disable individual plugins is more what is needed. Flash has nothing to do with images, it provides a very different set of functionality and some sites would load completely blank if you disabled flash even though they are 80 to 90% text based (why they do this is beyond me, but it is true). The fact is if they happened in Konqueror, I would move to another browser because it shouldn't be tied. Besides you can already get parts of this working by just disabling all plugins and images and setting a profile in konqueror for this setup. Flash and other multimedia related file formats handled by plugins could be easily controlled by activating a dialog box before downloading. Wouldn't this empowering the user to decide for himself based on the current site / context, if he likes to see the current offer or be able to skip it entirely? Some people recommend me to delete it from the plugins list and then recheck for the plugin when i need it . . . Generalizing the idea from comment 1: when an element(image, popup window, plugin) is not shown(for different reasons : popup block; image loading block;plugin block) a button with an image showing "Load Image"/"load swf"/"load popup" should be placed in a box with the size of the missing element(when a window is block a this button can appear in the status bar). When U click that button the element is loaded. An option could be provided even to remember what elements to load on a specific site... Flash and Netscape plugins are no longer supported. |
