Description jerome 2005-05-12 21:49:50 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux

For a while now eBay has added some javascript to many of their editbox and memobox fields to count characters to show a "N characters left" message. In KDE 3.4.0 (Fedora Core 3) this eats 100% CPU and is incredibly slow. It also interferes with the drop-down history list displayed for editbox fields which makes them essentially useless. I have a 1G Athlon and in a memobox I can easily type ahead and wait 5-10 seconds or more for the text to display.

The Leave Feedback and Ask Seller a Question forms are examples of an editbox and memobox field that displays the behaviour.

Hm, have a look at my bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105601, it sounds similar. But: when I try to input something into ebay it delays just for a second or so, not for several seconds.
Can you cut the responsible html/js code out of the ebay site?
