Sentry Crash Report:

Description Marcin Kasperski 2005-04-27 19:01:27 UTC
Version: 3.3.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-8)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8

Couldn't the question for username and password used for HTTP authorization be asked WITHIN browser window instead of pop-up window?

Some pros:
- GREAT while restoring the session after initial login - if there were multiple such windows
- if link requiring authorization is opened in the background tab, the user is not molested with the prompt until he turns his attention there
- consistent with session-based authorization schemes applied by many websites (for the normal user there is no functional difference between those authorization schemes)
- no more problems with pop-up window being hidden somewhere and konqueror unresponsive

The only cons I find:
- tradition (so maybe controlpanel option to disable it could be useful)

Dear user,

KHTML (and KJS) was a long time more or less unmaintained and got removed in KF6.

Please migrate to use a QWebEngine based HTML component.

We will do no further fixes or improvements to the KF5 branches of these components beside important security fixes.

For security issues, please see:

https://kde.org/info/security/

Sorry that we did not fix this issue during the life-time of KHTML.

Greetings
Christoph Cullmann
