Sentry Crash Report:

Description Christopher J. Bottaro 2005-04-19 23:05:59 UTC
Version: 0.10 (using KDE 3.4.0-1.4.3.kde, Fedora)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2 20041017 (Red Hat 3.4.2-6.fc3)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-1.14_FC3

i get dropped all the time, but kopete doesn't realize this and thinks we're still online. then i look like a complete jackass when i'm sending tons of messages to people wondering why they aren't responding. every god damned day, my girlfriend calls me and asks why i'm not online, and i have to explain that its my crappy IM client that says i'm online (to me) when i'm really not. its f-ing routine now.

yeah, i'm pissed, this is the 3rd bug report i've submitted for kopete in the past 5 mins and about the 20th MAJOR bug that i've had to deal with when using kopete. i never complained (much) before, but now that 1.0 is released, i expect something _mildly_ stable and even _usable_.

_anything_ i do involving a contact list, i do with gaim. then fire up kopete just to send/receive message...which i'm beginning to not be able to do even.

flagship kde programs, konqueror, kmail, amarok, digikam... kopete shouldn't even be near the same category.

i'm a huge supporter of kde and i try to spread its uses as much as i can. its hard getting people to even try something other than windows. all my effort goes down the crapper when they have horrible experiences with kopete, not to mention my embarrassment when they jeer me about linux sucking compared to windows because of it.

take this as a personal attack or not, but just know that i _want_ to use kopete. i could easily switch to gaim, but i _want_ kde programs to succeed and thrive. i'm just frustrated as an end user.

this is fixed in kde 3.4.1 already.

By the way, 1.0 hasn't been released. This is version 0.10, which is not the same thing as 1.0.

oops, my mistake. easy to misread things when you're seeing red. well in that case, all these bugs are _semi_ excusable.

I am using Kopete 0.70.2 (KDE4) in Debian and I still have this bug. It happens mostly if I connect to Windows Live Messenger on an other computer (kopete doesn't understand that it has been disconnected) or if my internet connection crash.
When in this state, if I try to change the status, it doesn't work. I need to disconnect and reconnect.
