Description Thomas Taylor 2005-04-19 02:37:43 UTC
Version: kmail 1.8 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

An attempt to use "Settings > Configure Kmail" - the windows size for "Security" is too tall, cutting off the bottom of the window which prevents buttons from being displayed. This does not happen in any of the other settings windows (Identities, Accounts, Appearance, Composer or Misc). The condition allways occurs when starting in or changing to "Security". The windows displayed when displaying any of the other settings is normal displaying the normal buttons (OK, APPLY, CANCEL, ETC) but change when switched to "Security" and will not change back after that.

This is Kmail 1.8 (using KDE 3.4.0-5 Red Hat) under Fedora Core 4 test 2 as part of an .iso file.

This is still happening with KDE 3.4.2 (Fedora Core 4 latest update).

Currently using Kmail 1.9.1 under KDE 3.5.1, installed from Slackware packages. gcc-3.4.5
kernel version 2.4.32

I also have this problem. My KDE fonts are set to 16. My current display
resolution is 1024x768 with 800x600 resolution, Virtual desktop.

It doesn't make a difference without the virtual desktop though.

In Kmail, once "security" is selected on the left, I can't view the okay, apply, etc. buttons unless I hide the KDE menu panel. Clicking back to "identities" or "account" doesn't reverse it.

I don't normally use Konqueror, but just noticed the exact same problem. The window is maximized at 800x600 resolution, at my current font size settings of 16.

On the left, when "behavior" is selected, everything is fine, but when I go as far as "Web Behavior," I lose the buttons at the buttom behind my main panel.

I should also note, my main panel is at the bottom and set at 48 pixels. I have the taskbar at the top, set to size "tiny," which is probably 24 pixels.

This "feature" still seems to be present in KDE 3.5.7.
If I go to Settings=>Configure KMail
and to Accounts=>Modify
the window I get is too large for my laptop (ThinkPad T23)
using a smallish font and standard display.

There should be scroll bars in all windows that might not fit
on the page.
Surely that should be standard on all GUI applications?

These bugs are all related to size problems with the configure dialog:
Bug 152537
Bug 108972
Bug 104183

I just checked on KMail from KDE 4.1.1 (using size 16 fonts). Even at the minimum allowed size the Security settings dialog works properly and doesn't change the settings window's size.

it works for me also in trunk.
