Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.3)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs0
OS: Linux

The print manager allows for drag and drop mass printing of large amounts of files out of the file manager.

It does however only look at the content-type for the files i guess, and thus xml/xhtml/svg? files will be printed as if they were text documents. (eg the source gets printed)
If you print from within konqueror the apropriate filters are first used to convert the html into for example postscript.

Would it not be nice to allow applications to register themselves as mime-type/content-type/extenstion -> postscript filters.

This way you could drag anything onto the print manger (even mixed batches) end the print manger would know which program to ask to handle the postscript generation.

This is an intersting idea but this requires changes in applications more than in kdeprint. Indeed, what you need is to turn auto-magically an application into a PS generator. Something related already exists in KOffice where there's a additional command flag --print that will trigger printing of the specified file. You can then use this feature to generate a "Print" services in the file manager for the KOffice documents.

I'll redirect this bug to more general KDE.

Any info of this yet?
Have requested a print flag for Firefox/gecko aswell, but it doesn't look like anyone is taknig it over there either,

I think it would greatly enhance the experience of office users.

KDEPrint is obsolete, unmaintained and will never be revived. Closing all open bugs.
