Description patrick serru 2005-02-28 15:44:28 UTC
Version: 2.3 (using KDE 3.3.0, SuSE)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (pre 3.3.5 20040809)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-24.11-smp

Expected Behaviour:
Fallowing the menu-item "Tool-Syntaxic coloration mode", it could be intéresting to add a other item "compress the file" which purpose would be to remove all unnecessary (function of syntaxic coloration mode sélected) "spaces", "end of lines" and comments.
Function of the way programmers work (most of them are very générous in comments! :-), it may représent 50% of saving in file size. This saving is allways good at least for files concerned by server-client exchange.
NB1: The "uncomment" item of the "tool" menu does not do it properly, but I suppose you allready know and work to fix it.
NB2: I personaly allready do so for files installed on servers, but only for html, scripts php and javascript, and doing so, and so, save up to 50% for file size.

Kate has scripting for such extensions, if still wanted, please feel free to implement it via javascript ;)
