    <thetext>Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

The management of imap messages is far away of being perfect. It is really anying that every message is downloaded, even if it is spam which i just want delete. It would be much better if messages on imap accounts would be downloaded only in parts. For example, at first step just get the headers and only show the header! If the user decides to trash this message, it should be deleted immediatly without downloading the whole message. This would be a great advantage especially for dialup users with a small bandwidth (also think about mobile users!)
Perhaps it is even possible to download in a second step only the message body and if the user selects in a third step the message attachments (but i havent seen this yet on any mail program - would be a unique feature of kmail, i think)</thetext>

<thetext>This is a really important feature!
My clients (who I help to migrate from Win to Linux/KDE) constantly complain
that this feature is missing.. </thetext>

<thetext>With the ability to turn off the reader window and thereby prevent automatic download of
each selected mail and load on demand for attachments I think we can safely call this issue
resolved. Both will be available in kmail 1.6 as part of kde 3.2. </thetext>

<thetext>I do not see this issue resolved in KDE 3.2.3
